Version: 1.4.0 (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: Compiled From Sources OS: Linux PROBLEM: Maximizing a plot can give a font size that is too large. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Start Kst Create a grid of plots in one tab (say 4x5) Maximize one of the plots (hit 'z' or select Maximize from the context menu) Create the same plot you maximized on its own in a new tab EXPECTED RESULTS: The two plots should have the same font size for labels and legend RESULTS: The font size in the maximized plot is much larger

Created attachment 20240 [details] Export of 'normal' plot. The two attachments (this one and the previous one) show the difference between a maximized plot and a single plot in a tab. Ideally they should be identical - at least in regards to font size.
"This is a feature, not a bug." The wizard decides in its infinite wisdom to create plots with larger fonts if they are in a grid. We will keep the current behavior.
Are you undertstood the nature of the complaint? Did you look at the two attachments? I don't believe this is related in any way to the wizard.
I think so. The wizard created the plots with larger fonts - too big, in fact, given the number of items in the legend. Take a look at the font size for the labels and legend for the 'plot in a grid', and make a single plot of the same stuff with this same requested font size. If everthing is working as intended, it should look the same as the 'plot-in-a-grid' in 'z' mode. The question your attachmets demonstrate is whether we should make the auto font size for legends smaller than we would like if the legend will be too big. This question is fairly general, as it can apply any time we create a new legend. On Wednesday 11 April 2007 4:29:43 pm Andrew Walker wrote: > ------- Are you undertstood the nature of the complaint? Agreed - though I think calling this a feature is bit of a stretch. Clearly we shouldn't be changing the font size (as given in the plot dialog) from the default value. The "true" font size should be selected based on the size of the plot and, possibly, the size of the window. I don't see a problem with the legend. If the user (emphasis on user) selects a font size so large that the legend won't fit in the plot then it will spill outside.
