Description Arne Babenhauserheide 2007-03-24 15:06:41 UTC
Version: 1.4.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

It would be nice, if amarok could transparently encode my oggs to mp3 when transmitting them to the ipod.

It would make using ogg as standard format far more convenient for me, and it could be a unique selling factor of amarok ("Get any music on any device").

Maybe it could keep a list of matching files (matches oggs on my computer to mp3s in the ipod), so files aren't transcoded twice.

Have you checked out the transKode extension?

I checked it out, but it crashes...
Can I file a bug report to that in here, too?

Thanks for verifying this. And no, you can't submit bugs for TransKode here; it's a third party application. Probably best to write a comment on the kde-apps.org page, or contact the author directly.

I'll try. Background why it crashes (just in case it intersts you): ELF64... seems to be not 64-bit safe (amd64), at least not the one pulled via HotNewStuff.
