Description Fernando Muñoz 2007-03-12 02:44:45 UTC
Version: 2.5.6 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

This affects kate/kedit/kwrite for me, when I try to open a file, and I dont have read permissions for that file, Kate opens it as an empty file, however, it doesnt show any kind of error messages regarding the permission denied issue.

Try to open /etc/shadow file with kate/kedit/kwrite.

Confirmed on r635140. Bug occurs as described when using command line like "kwrite /etc/shadow", but gives an error if you use the "open file" dialog

Confirming that this happens in KDE 3.5.8, but this is fixed in KDE 4. Closing.
