Description Geert Poels 2007-03-11 14:31:43 UTC
Version: 3.5.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

I wanted to report my first bug on KOrganizer.
So I selected menu Help\Report Bug.
This opened the 'submit bug report' dialog.
Clicking the button 'Launch bug report wizard' gave the error :
'could not launch the browser: Could not find service kfmclient'

I'm using Ubuntu with a Gnome desktop environment and only KOrganizer installed (+libs).
Firefox as default browser didn't open. (which I expected it would)

kfmclient comes from kdebase. Does the "launch bug report wizard" work in any other kde apps?
Comment 2 Geert Poels 2007-03-12 21:06:53 UTC
I have Krusader, but that uses a different mechanism.
I can install another one, which do you suggest ?

Anything :-). Konqueror, kmail, one of the kdegames...
Comment 4 Geert Poels 2007-03-14 17:39:54 UTC
It works in Konqueror, it just launches itself... :-D

Krusader has another bug reporting mechanism (can't these be unified ??)
Configure email button does nothing.
Send button shows : 'unable to send'.

Reporting bugs should be working as expected in KDE4. Closing.
Comment 6 Geert Poels 2009-02-15 09:31:21 UTC
Still occurs with 4.1.4 (from Kget)

What does this return in you run in from a terminal:

kfmclient newTab http://www.kde.org

Comment 8 Geert Poels 2009-02-15 11:51:50 UTC
The program 'kfmclient' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install konqueror
bash: kfmclient: command not found

-> I installed konqueror, so the page got loaded there.
Isn't there a way to launch the default browser and direct it to whatever page ?

Thank you for your feedback, this issue was fixed in KDE 4.2 by using another mechanism when kfmclient is not installed.
