This has been reported in the Debian BTS at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=409310

The kmines game allows a user to cheat the timer - simply by unpausing and repausing the game in less than a second, the timer will not advance beyond 00:00. This allows the user to cheat and show off their "skill" to friends.

This shouldn't happen anymore in kde4 version of kmines.
