Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6) Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: GCC 4.1.2 i686 vanilla OS: Linux My configuration of SAMBA network shares is kept in a separate file via the 'include' directive. include = /etc/samba/shares.conf So actually there two issues here: 1) Currently Samba KCM module doesn't see any of my shares and also creates them in the main configuration file. 2) [Wish] Add an option to keep samba shares in a separate file.
I regard this as a feature request (wish) rather than a bug. I will see what I can do, even though it will be difficult to decide which options should be stored in which included file. Perhaps even a redesign of the user interface would be needed. It is questionable if this feature would be used by many people to justify a more complicated user interface.
Also note that it is already possible to chose the smb.file which should be edited. So instead of editing the main file you can edit the included file instead.
Probably it's time to close this bug since most people edit SAMBA configuration manually.
