Version: 0.12.3 (using KDE 3.5.5, Gentoo) Compiler: Target: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.17-gentoo-r8 Hi, I use kopete on multiple computers (desktop and laptop). I'd like to be able to synchronise the kopete history logs between the different computers. This is currently not entirely possible, since two files can exist with the same name on each computer (one per friend per month). A simple solution to this would be to create a new log file for every online session (rather than per month), or to add a hash to the filename so that they are all unique.
I am *strongly* in favour of that. Maybe a new history format could be introduced for KDE4's Kopete? That would, for example, ease handling of multi-person chats very much and allow a speedup of the search. I am currently working on the history plugin and I could also implement something, if wanted.
I agree, the current history plugin isn't very good at all, just browse the other bugs for a while. - It can't be merged from different computers (gaim's history is a piece of cake) - It is full of bugs (some of them are UI bugs) - It is slow to use I doubt that xml is fit for this, sure, xml is great, but not for everything.
I believe this is still a problem with 4.3
I'm closing this since I don't use Kopete any more and the last comment from anyone else was nearly 10 years ago.
