Description Duncan Hanson 2007-01-23 01:48:58 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

It would be more intuitive if the X and Y range options were set in the X/Y axis tabs of the edit plot dialog, rather than in a separate range tab.

I tend to agree, and I think it used to be like that. I guess the reason it was moved to a separate tab is the lack of real estate: the X/Y axis tabs are already quite big (min vertical space requirement 650 pix in my setup, with not enough room to add the range button group!).
My best suggestion would be to try and accomodate some options from the X/Y axis tabs (like grid lines and possibly tick marks) in the "Colors and line widths" group of the "Appearance" tab. But even so, we have to think hard so as not to clobber the "Appearance" tab... Nice exercise :-) How come we don't have more support from usability experts ?

Without proper usability studies or expert opinions, I think this is to close to call.... I could argue it either way. But we should look at making the 2dplot dialog a lot cleaner at some point. There are a *lot* of lines in there from all those boxes, eating up screen real-estate at a ferocious rate!
