Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Mandriva RPMs Depending of the thing I wana do, I can diferenciate betwen 3 image viewers. First one : _ultra fast_ image displaying with fullscreen mode. allow to go to next/preview image. Second one : Image _slideshow_ easy slideshow configuration, speed, stop, next. enventualy nice transition effect. Last one : easy _modification_ of an image size/orientation modification. color filters. borders. transformation effects. the first is what konqueror do, but whithout fullscreen mode the second is more like gwenview, but gwenview is slow and in my opinion to much just to display a slideshow, missing transitions. the last one is more showphoto. So where is the problem ? These app just don't speek to each other, event if they are Kipi to avoid reinventing the weel, I can't switch from one to another easily. In fact, I believe the realy nice thing would be to have the realy fast component alow to be truned in the slideshow or edit mode. During a slideshow, I can just stop it and edit the photo, then continue the slideshow. But the different parts aren't started whith the fast displayer, so that I can just have a quick look at a pict. The module may be loaded when a shortcut is taped. For instance, I hit ctr+r to rotate. Then it loads the modifier things. I hit ->, it loads the next image. but if I ctr+->, it loads the slideshow things. The menu may also allow to quickly swich, for moose users like me. Fianly, these app may handle list of URI, for instance I whant a slideshow made from tags. Now I can use show photo from digikam for that, but it's not the beter suited app to just display photo (I think the name is bad, since it's more a photo corrector than displayer ). But I can't have these files in gwenview which next foto is the next image in the directory.
With the KDE4 Version of gwenview, I no longer have this issue of speed.
