Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Debian stable Packages OS: Linux I really hope that the next update for Knetwork Manager will allow it to remember wireless passwords without the need of Kwallet. I think that there should be an option which allows users to choose if they want to enter password every time or not. I wish Knetwork Manager could be like in Ubuntu Gnome, you enter WPA password once and from there on it connects automatically every time you log in in the future.
We are considering making kwallet optional in future.
I can use Knetworkmanager in KDE3 without storing password in KWallet but not in KDE4. It's really annoying to type KWallet password each time at boot just for connecting a known WPA network, it would be a very useful to have an option to avoid it in KDE4 too.
This feature is in progress on the KDE 4 version.
Almost completely implemented in NM-kde4 now.
This is especially important since the plasmoid cannot even connect to wireless when kwallet is disabled! https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-widget-network-manager/+bug/352764 any progress on this? It may be that ubuntu user packages that are still in testing. What is the current stable kde releast that WORKS? thx
Still working on it
Implemented in r1000964 and 969
many thanks for pushing this fix through so quickly. Is this something that can be built and added to 4.2.4 or does it have deps on more recent versions of other packages? If so please point me to where I can access a source code snap shot to build it. thx.
I haven't released it yet, be patient for a while longer.
sorry, I assumed that when you marked this as fixed the fix had been committed. All projects I've worked on mark bugs as fixed when the corrected source is available. Did you mean something else by "release" ? Please post a comment when something is available. thx.
It is committed, but there is no tarball yet; you can build it from SVN if you want - playground/base/plasma/applets/networkmanager.
