You should be able to have an option to tell amaroK to play on an alarm as well as the other options (play an audio file, run a program, display a notification, etc).  I have tried setting the program to "/usr/kde/3.5/bin/dcop" and the program parameters to "amarok player play" but that doesn't work.

Ther's a script for that, just look in the Script Manager -> Download scripts.
