Version: 3.5 (using KDE 3.5.1 Level "a" , SUSE 10.1) Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16.13-4-smp Korganizer Alarm Daemon does not load to the "system tray" at sign on, even though its check box is ticked. If I should should run Korganizer manually it loads up. This happens in Gnome desktop, as well as KDE environment...using SuSe 10.1 It would be a most useful tool if it worked. Haven't tried other desktops or window managers. If a fix is not in the offing hints as to how to manually set the daemon to load automatically at login would help.
update to the newest kde i use suse 10.1, kde 3.5.5 and i don't have this problem
OK, did upgrade all components to 3.5.5 when I realized they were available. Full work schedule prevents me checking, but will mark this resolved if the upgrade fixes the proble. Thanks much.
Have checked now....if KDE is the window manager, the daemon loads. ANY other winodw manager and you must start some portion of Kontact manually for the daemon to load. Present workround is to leave KOrganizer running minimized at all times, and then saving setup on logoff so that Korg while reopen on login, this bringing in the daemon with it. Therefore, I presume this to be yet unconfirmed.
Have all KDE updates now. Have found that daemon only loads within KDE desktop. All other desktops environments require opening some module from Kontact and then it will load and remain till log off.
Now I have a workaround. The applet "korgac" need to be entered in the Gnome startup preferences for it to load at signon. Ticking the box in korgac's property sheet should do this, but it only does it for KDE. Manually editing Gnome's startup preferences will force the daemon to work as designed. I Suggest the failure is not a bug, but a wish for better interoperability between platforms. Will mark it resolved.
