Description Hans Dembinski 2006-12-14 21:04:59 UTC
Version: 2.6 (using KDE 3.5.5, Kubuntu (edgy) 4:3.5.5-0ubuntu3)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-10-generic

Hi,

the above description tells everything. It happens not always, the chance could be ~30 %.

This could be related to an USB web cam, I am using. The kernel modules of all USB devices get removed on hibernate, and probably are not restored correctly in the resume. Maybe this confuses kmix.

Best regards...

Procedure to reproduce:

1) Connect some USB audio device
2) Start kmix. The device has to be recognized in kmix as an audio device, so that you can adjust controls and everything.
3) Then detach that USB device. Kmix cannot cope with this and uses 100% CPU.

Also, kmix does not recognizes USB Audio devices, which are attached after it was started. So I conclude, that kmix cannot deal with USB events, more specifically Audio devices appearing and disappearing during runtime.

That this is the reason for this bug.

Correction:
My statement from my first posting is wrong, it actually happens all the time if the USB device is attached. See my procedure to reproduce this bug.

Best regards!
