Description meldroc 2006-12-11 18:06:39 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

If you've ever played first-person shooters like the Quake series, Doom3, Half-Life 2 or others, they frequently have a feature where if you hit a hotkey (tilde in Quake's case), a command-line console pops down from the top of the screen and lets you type in commands for configuration tweaks, cheats & such.

That would be a great Kicker feature for command-line commanders like me - hit a hotkey, or click an icon on a Kicker panel, and have a Konsole slide out and give you an instant shell prompt.

I believe this is already implemented, Kuake has something like this at http://www.nemohackers.org/kuake.php

Maybe this should be folded into the official KDE release?

yakuake is just what you're looking for, I don't believe this feature should be in Konsole.
