Description Mike 2006-12-09 13:44:00 UTC
Version: 0.7.1-6 i586 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

Here is the exact message I receive & the backtrace. This happens every time I log in to KDE with SUSE 10.2 GM:

Short description
The application KPowersave (kpowersave) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV).

What is this?
An application mostly receives the SIGSEGV signal due to a bug in the application. The application was asked to save its documents.

What can I do?
You might want to send a bug report for this application. Check if it is listed on http://bugs.kde.org, otherwise mail the author. Please include as much information as possible, maybe the original documents. If you have a way to reporduce the error, include this also.

you didn't read "Check if it is listed on http://bugs.kde.org, otherwise mail the author", right? You can also go to http://en.opensuse.org/Submit_a_Bug
Comment 2 Adam Jimerson 2006-12-18 16:43:45 UTC
I still get this bug in SUSE linux 10.2, everything listed in the Crash handler is below.

Other
Yes i can reproduce this error, it happens everytime i start up my laptop, or go into the command line and try to start up kpowersave.

Also i don't know if this is the same as what mike reported, but i'm just listing this so this bug can be reopened.
Comment 3 Alessandro Mariotti 2006-12-25 10:54:27 UTC
I have the same problem.. I'm using openSuse 10.2 on my laptop.. I've tried to delete all my ~/.kde directory, and it worked once, when I logged in for the second time, the problem was back... i don't know if this will help resolving this bug

Idemdito on m1210 Dell laptop. Only @ boot, I can startup kpowersave manually afterwards without errors.

Hmm, that's strange. Couldn't remember I have marked this as dupe of 139535. Reopening.
Comment 9 WP 2007-01-04 00:49:06 UTC
I found that if I boot the laptop with it plugged in, kpowersave does not crash. If I boot, without it plugged in, it will crash.

This bug was fixed a while ago by Novell for OpenSUSE 10.2. Check out this link:

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=225212

See comment # 22 for a link to the fix for SUSE 10.2
