Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Sorry, but since 3.5.4 in my perception there are so much problems with confusing and annoying password popups and kwallet client hangs that i regard kde as useable only for hardcore computer geeks. My kids use kde desktop, but avoid all of kdepim. As i like korganizer, i prefer to type the kill and restart commands mentioned later. As long as bugs are not resolved there should be delivered a "kde cleanup" command. Especially often after a ungraceful but not "illegal" system shutdown with poweroff button (acpid) there are annoying problems with kwallet and its clients (konqueror, knode, kmail, korganizer). Every now and then kded eats 100% of cpu time. For this bugreport cookie management did not work. I learned sometimes it helps to "kill -9 kded". This morning i have a working kde after typing dcopserver_shutdown and dcopstart in the console I use the mentioned kwallet clients with kmail polling three imap accounts. The problems manifested on gentoo and kubuntu with i388 and amd64.
kwalletd has improved a lot with the upcoming version of KDE 4.1 and should have all of the issues you mention fixed. If you're still having similar problems, please just reopen the bug. Please understand that due to the kwallet daemon being quite different in KDE3 and KDE4 changes won't be backported for KDE 3.5.10.
