Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Compiled From Sources OS: Linux When running under XGL, the KDE eye-dropper tool always grabs a plain blue color, no matter where you click. This was reported as bug #130216 already, but closed because the submitter didn't mention anything about XGL.
I have this same symptom. I've noticed that it is only grabbing the Blue value of a given color. So if I select white, I get "0000FF". If I select Black, I get "000000". This is KDE from OpenSuse 10.3 with Compiz running.

Here is information on my setup: KDE version: 3.5.7 "release 72.2" System: Linux Release: 2.6.22.12-0.1-default Machine: i686
I had the same symptoms as Dean Landry (comment 1). I can also confirm it's something to do with xgl, I've just un-installed xserver-xgl (Ubunty Gutsy) and color picker is now correctly picking all color components. Also not even when compiz was not running, but xgl was the problem occurred. xserver-xgl version 1:1.1.99.1.~git20070727-0ubuntu3 kde-base 4:3.5.8-0ubuntu2 color-picker v0.1 kde 3.5.8
I can confirm that this happens on SLED 10 SP1 with KDE 3.5.1 Level a as well.
Happens to me on trunk 4.1, color picker gives me #003039 whatever color I try to pick. For example if I go frm Configure Desktop -> Wallpaper -> Color and from there use the color picker it gets stuck on the above value. Not sure it is related to xgl, rpm -qa |grep glx does not return anything here. Not even sure it's the same bug but color picker does not work.
Any news on this ? Color picker works OK here using: Qt: 4.5.1 (qt-copy 958974) KDE: 4.2.71 (KDE 4.2.71 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090428)) kdelibs svn rev. 960693 / kdebase svn rev. 960693 on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.29.1
yes, we fixed this for plasma some time ago :)
