Description Beat Fasel 2006-11-20 15:34:50 UTC
Version: 0.1.2-1ubuntu2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

The older version (before 0.1.2) of the Kipiplugins allowed to have more control over the HTML export function. In the current version, only a choice of three themes is given. All of these do not please me

1) with their visual appearance (e.g. I think that displaying the file names in the overview of the simple theme is ugly) and

2) cannot be quickly adapted to different needs.

Could the old interface be brought back as an alternative to the current theme-driven one?

Thanks a lot for your efforts!

Beat

I don't know the old version, but I would like to see more options, too
e.g.
show comments: yes/no
show tags : yes/no
show picture taken date: yes/no
create menu for tags: yes/no
create menu for albums: yes/no

Especially to allow HTML tags towards the top of the page that are always visible so that as users scroll down the gallery they can always click to go to a higher level of the website or another gallery.

possibly also allow zooming of images although not sure if this would be possible with simple html gallery

I believe that Beat's request could now be considered resolved, as the current HTML gallery plugin (as of digiKam 6.3.0) offers many more themes and styles, most of which offer customisation options.

Christian's request in Comment 1 is still unresolved because even though the HTML gallery tool does generate a gallery.xml file containing the captions ("comments") and capture datetime, it does not yet write the image tags. This enhancement has been requested in bug 147768.

Michael's requests could be considered resolved from a core code point of view because the HTML gallery tool does make it possible to keep the up/previous/next links visible at the top of the page. (And JavaScript libraries already allow image zooming.) But at the moment none of the available themes actually do make the up/previous/next bar remain visible.

Michael, I've just created a new theme which comes with four visual styles. Currently none of them make the up/previous/next bar stay in view, but give the new theme a try:

https://gitlab.com/Bobulous/digikam-html5-gallery-theme

and if you like any of the four visual styles which come with this theme let me know and I'll see whether it's viable to make the nav bar stick to the top of the window. (Please raise any suggestions/problems on that GitLab site directly.)

If none of these styles appeals to you, then the best bet for you is to read the how-to guide:

https://cgit.kde.org/digikam.git/tree/core/dplugins/generic/tools/htmlgallery/themes/THEME_HOWTO

and create your own theme.
