Description Piotr Gabryjeluk 2006-11-20 11:32:13 UTC
Version: 1.4.4 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

I have iRiver IFP 899 (the silver-black one). Transferring any media to that device works well but grouping them not. I can only group my files in one level (for instance Album). When I try to group them in two levels (Artist/Album) I get error messages for every file. It reads like "The file could not be transferred to the media device".

This happens always for me since some release till now. I believe it is even pre-1.4 issue.

I experience the same problem with an iriver iFP-590T (Manager fw) using KDE 3.5.5 and still on Amarok 1.4.5.

Examples on the behavior regarding Grouping:

Artist ---> All the files go to the root directory of the player.

Artist/Album ---> Error no transfer but the Album folder is created.

Album ---> All files on right Album folder (that's the only correct case).

Album/Artist ---> all files on the Album folder, but there is no Artist sub-folder created.

Are you still having this bug? Unfortunately this one is hard to reproduce if you don't have an iRiver :) Please post an updated comment on if this problem is gone.

Thank you for your concern.
The problem is still the same here using now Amarok 1.4.9.1 on KDE 3.5.9.
I build Amarok on my Gentoo system providing this USE set:
[ebuild R ] media-sound/amarok-1.4.9.1 USE="arts ifp kde mysql opengl postgres
python -amazon -daap -debug -ipod -mp4 -mtp -musicbrainz -njb -real -visualization -xinerama"

Closing report since we are not making changes to Amarok 1.4 anymore. Our focus is on Amarok 2, and the code base is completely different.
