Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Hello, I extracted "BallDocumentClass.as" from this archive: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/flash9_as3_preview.zip I have no program associated to open this file, I looked at the properties and it is listed as: Applix Spreadsheets (sic) Document Also the Contents: is listed as "Java Source File", so based on this information could a standard text editor like Kate or anther be associated based on the determined type of the contents? (Just to confirm, .as is not an Applix Spreadsheet Document, it is an ActiveScript source code file in this instance) Cheers Jon

The MIME type of an ActionScript file is "text/x-actionscript"
Hi, I've reopend this bug. This bug: 136525 is a wishlist feature request -- for the addition of a text editor to files determined as containing text. The other bug this was marked a dup of (136524) is separate a separate issue, about the missing Adobe ActionScript mime-type "text/x-actionscript" Jon
I'd say, if the mime type is available, this issue is automatically solved. See https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16570
