Description Shaun Thomas 2006-10-26 00:15:08 UTC
Version: 1.9.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I am subscribed to a rather active mailing list. After the recent Kmail 1.9.5 upgrade, I noticed it was very difficult to read newsgroup messages. I found that any amount of scrolling the message list pane would immediately be reversed, as if the folder had just been entered and the "When entering folder, jump to..." action had been executed.

This is in a nested IMAP folder containing roughly 200 threaded newsgroup messages in a fully-expanded view. Regardless of message selection or window focus, the message list pane will center on a message once per second. Any scrolling, via scrollbar or scroll-wheel is reversed within one second, as if the folder containing the messages had just been entered. It's possible some status flag for folder entry is not being properly set.

I should note that this only happens in the folder I have that's full of many nested threads: no other folder has this problem. The behavior did not follow the messages to the trash, either. This issue seems tied to either the folder itself, or the fact that it's a nested IMAP folder.

Have same problem in my inbox folder (it's also dimap).
All other folders don't have this problem!
This problem seems to be new, I can't remember to have seen it some months before.

Is there a workaround?
Its very unhandy to work with this bug...

Seems to be the same as bug 84947. If not, please reopen this report.

I am having the same issue using kmail 1.9.9 (kde 3.5.9) running Kubuntu Hardy Heron. (The problem existed for me in Gutsy Gibbon as well). Like the original poster, the problem only occurs for one particular folder, namely my gmail inbox, which is disconnected imap. The message list always jumps to the message I have selected. This is problematic, if I want to scroll through the message list using the scrollbar or a scrollwheel on a mouse. Every second or so the message list automatically goes back to focus on the selected message (the selected message appears as either the topmost or bottommost message in the list, depending on which way I have scrolled). Even if I have not scrolled away, the message list does a little "hiccup" every second or so, which is visually very distracting.

Please let me know if I can provide any more information.

Thanks.
