Description Alexey Yakovenko 2006-10-19 15:10:00 UTC
Version: 1.9.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc 4.1.1 gcc version 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1)
OS: Linux

my locale is ru_RU.UTF-8

to reproduce:

create new message
type some text in russian (i suppose some other languages will trigger the bug too)
make it italic
save in drafts

i cannot read the message (except subject line) in kmail, but was able to decode it using net-mail/base64 tool.

setting encoding manually before saving doesn't help.

i'm using gentoo-ppc64 with 32bit userland, kde-3.5.5 and kmail-1.9.5

and i have the same problem on kubuntu x86 with kde-3.5.2 and kmail-1.9.1

seems it's not encoding problem, but viewer problem.
