Description Teemu Lahtela 2006-10-13 08:32:18 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

MSN is connected after going offline and receives messages. Sometimes when I set status to offline at home and go to work and go online and start a chat the reply messages are sent to my home.

Scenario:
1. Close all chats and set status to offline in computer A and leave kopete running.
2. Start kopete on computer B and go online
3. Start a chat on computer B.
4. Your messages will be sent, but responds go to computer A, which should be offline.

This does not happen all the time. Might require that the contact is online before computer A goes offline. It seems that when kopete is offline MSN is still generating network traffic, checked with iptraf with no other applications running.

I have the exact same problem with my home/work setup. At work I am using Ubuntu Dapper, and at home I am using Ubuntu Edgy (kopete v0.12.3). Before heading to work in the morning, I always mark myself as offline. However, when I get home at night I periodically will have messages waiting for me from my MSN account. The messages recieved on the home computer have the correct time stamps (ie, the timestamps reflect the actual time the message was sent), however, at that point in time I was online at work and received no messages.

This has been going on for quite some time now, although I can't nail down specifics. At first I thought I was just forgetting to go offline before heading to work, but I have since confirmed that I am offline when the messages get delivered.
