Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4) Installed from: Compiled From Sources When adding a Kopete contact to the KDE address book, it duplicates any existing user. For example, I already have a contact by name "Hacker Joe" and when adding an IRC contact from Kopete by name "Hacker Joe", I would expect a the existing entry, that has no IRC-information, be populated with the ICQ address instead of that a redundant entry is added. (There's also the problem that when using the wizard, one can add to the KDE address book but not when selecting Add To Your Contact List in the RMB. I wish Kopete wouöd simply always use the KDE address book like all other PIM apps and got rid of this complexity. But this is of course a different matter.) Frans
I can't see how you did this. When I click on a contact and click Properties, I see an Address Book Link box with a "Change..." button. When I click "Change...", it shows me a list of all my existing contacts, and I just select the person from that list, and it adds the IM address information to the existing contact. Is there another way to add an IM contact to the Address Book that doesn't let you select existing users? What steps did you take to get a redundant entry? Lastly, just to clarify, are you saying it duplicates users in the Address Book or in Kopete? Because I played around, and noticed you can link two Kopete contacts with the same address book entry, but Kopete does not automatically merge the two contacts into a Kopete meta-contact. (Obviously, that should probably be the desired behavior, but I'd like to know whether that is a separate bug or the same one you are talking about.) Tested with Kopete 0.12.7 (Using KDE 3.5.9) standard Kubuntu 8.04 packages, using an AIM and a Yahoo account.
