Description Steven P. Ulrick 2006-10-03 05:53:07 UTC
Version: juk 2.3.2 (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc-4.1.1-1.fc5
OS: Linux

Usually, I prefer to have my columns sized automatically. The problem here is that Sometimes, manual column sizing will be forced just by changing the column that my mp3's are sorted by.
For example, let's say that I have all the columns displayed that I want, and I'm tagging some mp3's, and I have the sorted by the "Artist" column. Sometimes, when I click another column (if I want to sort by, let's say, "Album"), the method of Column Sizing will change from "Automatic" to "Manual", as shown in the following screenshot:
http://www.afolkey2.net/Projects/juk-screenshot-001.jpg

Then, after clicking the "Ok" button, click on a "Artist", "Album" or "Genre" in the left column, the screen looks like this:

Thankfully, if I then choose "View | Resize Playlist Columns Automatically", the columns go back to normal:

"EXPECTED BEHAVIOR":
If I choose "View | Resize Playlist Columns Automatically" it should not change to "Resize Playlist Columns Automatically" unless I change it.

"ACUTUAL BEHAVIOR":
The method of sizing columns is changed just by changing the column that I want to sort by.

"STEPS TO REPRODUCE":
1. Have as few as 1 mp3 loaded into Juk.
2. Choose any column that you desire, and click on the column heading to sort by that column.
3. Repeat "Maybe" a few times, and this bug will show itself.

This problem doesn't just occur once or twice during a session. It occurs based on how many times you decide you want to change the column that you sort by. That is what makes this kind of an annoyance.

Ooops, forgot to mention that this bug has been a problem for me for as long as I can remember. So unfortunately, I don't know when it started. But it has been going on for a long time and I'm just now getting around to reporting it :)

Also, this is on a fully update installation of Fedora Core 5, with KDE updated from SVN (Branch 3.5) just a few hours ago.

I have recently done a fresh install of Fedora Core 6. I also completly wiped out my old KDE Branch 3.5 install and recompiled and installed from a completely fresh download of the Branch 3.5 modules. Further, I also removed my /home/steve/.kde directory. The conclusion of all of this is that the subject of this bug report is still a problem.

I cannot reproduce this at all (and in fact the old feature of automatically enabling manual resize mode if you resized a column doesn't work either, which may be why I can't reproduce this). I believe the bug is fixed with the current release of JuK.
