Description Jonathan Jesse 2006-09-29 04:26:54 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

This bug is posted on launchpad as bug #34477 copying information here and linking the launchpad bug to this one

---------------------
In current Kubuntu Dapper, if scim is loaded, the adept package manager requires several orders of magnitude more time to render interface elements.
The consequence of this bug is that adept is unusable in locales that require scim input method support (e.g. Chinese)

Starting adept from the command line ("$ sudo adept") produces this error:
 ---------------------------------
 GTK Panel of SCIM 1.4.4
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
 Xlib: No protocol specified
(scim-panel-gtk:13110): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0

Could you please check with Feisty version of Adept? This one is not a KUniqueApplication anymore and may exhibit better behaviour here. Thanks.

If the bug still persists, please reopen.
