Description Joaquim Machado 2006-09-20 18:29:20 UTC
Version: 0.12.2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc i686-pc-linux-gnu-4.1.1
OS: Linux

1. If I send an emoticon, it displays correctly.
2. But if I receive the same emoticon it just displays the plain text.

The emoticons are animated (ePLUS) and we are using the jabber transport.

Have you turned on any of the options that keep the chat window from displaying rich text? Also, if you could provide data on what packet is received when these non-displaying emoticons are received, that would be helpful as well. You can use a tool like wireshark to capture that data.

1. I didn't turned off any riched text formating.
2. If you insist I can send you the captured packets, but our jabber communication is configured to only use SSL. Besides this problem only happens with kopete with certain emoticons, it works with any other Jabber client. So i don't think it as anything to do with the communications.

I just noticed, that if i activate the history plugin. The next time i open a chat window, the emoticons on the history, will display correctly. But on the current chat, it still displays the corresponding text.

Cannot reproduce in the KDE4 version (trunk r828808).

I tried sending myself several different emoticons ( :), :(, :O, :P ) and all were received correctly. I tried using one of the standard themes that comes with Kopete.

Joaquim, if you're still seeing this, can you try with a different theme? Perhaps there's something about the specific theme you're using that's causing it to break.

I'm going to close, as this should be fixed in the next KDE 4.1 release. If it happens again, please feel free to reopen.
