Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.3) Installed from: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux I believe that could be useful to have an automatic function that allows to show on the photo an info that is on the EXIF. I ask this because I have been told to insert in a large number of photoes the data on which I did it, and I must do it manually using gimp, so I believe could be an interesting function. Are you talking about an Exif data viewer ? If yes, this feature is already implemented in all kipi hosts. For example in digiKam we have the Metadata right side bar tab (very complete: Exif/Makernote/Iptc/GPS) : http://www.digikam.org/?q=node/105 or the resume (sidebar tab or tool tip) : http://digikam3rdparty.free.fr/Screenshots/image_properties_sidebar_tab_and_album_file_tip.png Gilles Caulier
IIRC there are two types of possible comments, exif one and jpeg one. (Gilles am I wrong?) The first one should be available from digikam the latter from gwenview for instance. IIRC, again, it's the host application who can manage comments or not. Angelo
Angelo, In digiKam all possible comments (excepted XMP, for later) are supported : Exif comments Makernote comments (if exist, depand of camera maker) JFIF comments IPTC captions All strings can be show in respective Metadata viewer part. In all case there is a common comments editor witch update all parts at the same time. Gilles
I have understood, but I mean not to view the exif comments or to add it, I mean to add in the photo (in a corner with text) some data that are in the exif. For instance image data or, exposure time, FNumber etc. Stefano
ok, you want super-impose text metadata under picture, and of course in batch mode. right ? Gilles
you are right ! In batch it'd be perfect I believe. Stefano
hmm, i believe there's another wish for that some where... Gilles?
BTW Stefano, if you're using jpeg comments you can see them in gwenview slideshow/full screen view.
yes I know that I can view jpeg and Exif comment, but if I print the photo......no comments available;-) Stefano
Stefano, I'm getting more and more confused, you've never spoken about printing... This report's becoming strange. You wish (please check it) a) a comment editor (?) b) a slideshow view with comments shown c) a print plugin that allow comment (and/or other exif info) printing. As it should be by now, a) has to be done by host applications. b) can be done at least by gwenview not using slideshow plugin. c) can be either done by gwenview, using normal print (not plugin) button. That way is not perfect... but I'm sure you can do it since i wrote some of that code ;) Anyway for b) and c) i should check but I'm quite sure there are two bugs already open... Cheers, Angelo P.S. Gilles when are you going to move code using libkexif to libexiv? (or better are you going to do that?)
I'd kile to have b) view plugin c) print plugin with exif infos added , choosen by user, and like option to save the view modified. Stefano
> Anyway for b) and c) i should check but I'm quite sure there are two > bugs already open... see bug#111454
....and bug 92098. All are similar. All people need to add and/or print extra info on the photo. I'd like also to save this photo with additions. Thanks Stefano
print wizard now prints date-time according exif information
With the new Print Creator tool included in digiKam core version 5.7.0, this problem is not reproducible.
