Description Roland Wolters 2006-08-28 14:27:55 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

Since the update to konqueror 3.5.4 the flickr.com organizer (AJAX application) does not work anymore. The menus are not displayed any more and the dropping of photos from one part of the interface to another fails also.

It worked with the prior version on this machine (3.5.3) and still works with old versions like 3.3.1 (tested on RHEL) or even 3.2.3 (tested on Mandriva).

You can only access this ajax app when you are logged in, and therefore you have to register first (which is free).

Works for me (post 3.5.4, svn r578083.)
Comment 2 Roland Wolters 2006-08-28 15:07:19 UTC
Does that mean it is fixed upstream? Or does it mean the error is caused by something the Fedora maintainer probably did?

Two things I forgot to mention: When I open the page there is a small bug symbol in the right corner with the message:
"Fehler: Node : TypeError: Value undefined (result of expression _ge(_19).mat_deactivate) is not an object. Cannot be called."

And a screenshot of the broken konqueror can be seen here:

Another Fedora Core user tested the flickr organizer and it didn't work, too.
I reported these errors shown by the bug symbol:

Errore: nodo : TypeError: Value undefined (result of expression
_ge("tabl_mat_map").mat_set_size) is not an object. Cannot be called.
Errore: nodo : TypeError: Value undefined (result of expression
_ge(_19).mat_deactivate) is not an object. Cannot be called.
Errore: nodo : TypeError: Value undefined (result of expression
_ge("candy_findr_end").button_disable) is not an object. Cannot be
called.

Is there any patch I could apply to the usual 3.5.4 source to fix this?
Comment 4 Roland Wolters 2006-10-28 18:54:54 UTC
I updated to KDE 3.5.5 - however, the bug is still there. Can anyone confirm this with a version *not* shipped with Fedora Core?
Comment 5 Justin T. Frisch 2006-12-09 00:40:41 UTC
Same problem here running KDE 3.5.5 on Gentoo 2006.1. Though I have also tried this on a Debian 3.5.4 system and run into the same problem.

It is possible that an update on Flickr's side is causing the problem, though whether it is a bug or not I'm not sure. (Unfortunately I am not a programmer...)

This also appears to be affecting Safari (or one version of it?):

I can confirm this (Gentoo, 3.5.5). There is also a Flickr bug thread for it:
http://www.flickr.com/forums/bugs/31203/

However, I'm not sure whether the problem is Konqueror's or Flickr's fault. I'm not a JavaScript guy, and surely not an AJAX guy, so I can't debug the Organizr. Since Flickr doesn't react to the bug report, would it maybe be possible for someone else who reads this bug to do a little checking whose fault it is? Thanks.

I have the same problem on Arch Linux, KDE 3.5.6. It stopped wrking 27th december 2006 on KDE 3.5.5.
Comment 8 Tim Weber 2007-01-24 18:45:26 UTC
It stopped working months before (see bug date). I'm not sure whether it's KDE's fault, though. I'll try an old LiveCD in a few days when I've got some spare time again.
Comment 9 Roland Wolters 2007-04-25 00:41:05 UTC
The organizr works again as usual. As nothing happened.
Looks like that was a bug by flickr. Therefore I close this bug now.
