Description Daniel Hahler 2006-08-16 19:52:20 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

If I change the settings in the "Security" tab of "Configure - KMail" (through ), I get the error mentioned in the Short Description.

It seems, as if pressing "Ok" on the dialog that gets opened through "Configure..." next to the "Crypto Backends" list does trigger a "Rescan", which is confusing IMHO.

On the other hand, the error is ok, if you manually click "Rescan".

FWIW, support for Chiasmus should be completely made optional and disabled by default in the built.

Occurs in openSUSE 10.2 KDE 3.5.5 release 45.2 aswell.

I use debian kernel 3.2.0-3-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Jul 23 02:45:17 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux
kde 4.8.4 and kmail 1.13.7 and i have same problem.

I try to use signature but i cant because there is not that chiasmus file and i cant configure it.

I tried to install kleopatra but it did not fixed it.

It seems this bug was resolved some years ago but I cant find the way to fix it.

It seems now i solved it.

It keeps saying it cant find chiasmus but i managed to use opengpg with kleopatra.
i installed aptitude install kgpg gpgsm kleopatra gnupg-agent pinentry-qt
I dont know if that was necessary.

I selected my key in kleopatra. I selected it in my kmail users identities. And now a normal email can be signed.

information to add to the record:

kmail2 does not support chiasmus at this time.
kmail1 does/did support chiasmus but only in the enterprise version

chiasmus is not available for average folks, partly why we have the enterprise version

since kmail1 is no longer supported and kmail2 does not do chiasmus, I feel that we can keep this bug resolved.

you might want to look in your kmailrc (or other configfiles) for chiasmus settings that might be getting in your way -- you should not have references to chiasmus in your config files unless you work at the special locations that have a real chiasmus installation.

Allen there is a lot of code about chiasmus in kmail2.
Why do you say it's not supported ?
If you think that it's not necessary I can remove all code from it.
But before it perhaps we can look at why it's not supported ?
is it migration problem ?
is it bugs ?
etc.

I looked at kmail2 and there is a lot of code missing for use it.
I hide all chiasmus gui now.
