Version: (using KDE Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux Many users, including myself, want to be able use Lightscribe under Linux. Lightscribe support in k3b would be highly appreciated. As far as I know, the only existing solution is to run Windows under VMware under Linux, but that's far from optimal. NeroLINUX does not currently support Lightscribe.

LaCie has impletemented a free (free, not open-source) software to support LightScribe on Linux. This software is here: >> http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers/driver.htm?id=10094 end the Description page: >> http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10803 Sorry for my English, i'm not speak a good English, and I am a Gnome-Fan. Good Bye.
Although there is now a GNU/Linux SDK available for Lightscribe, I believe the substandard licensing terms may keep this from ever being a functional component of K3B. Even if some labeling functionality is integrated, you will have to license, download, and install the LightScribe System Software separately. That being said... now that the SDK is available, maybe someone with the requisite programming skills could make a plugin that would allow integration with Lightscribe, or at the very least, a menu option that would launch the Lightscribe Simple Labeler? http://www.lightscribe.com/downloadSection/linux/index.aspx Thanks all for the great software.
For the past few years, it seems the majority of K3b focus has been on the KDE 4 port and bug fixing. Now that the new version is coming into its own, can we perhaps look at feature requests like this?
