Version: 1.5.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.3) Installed from: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Inkscape has a feature that is of *great* help while learning how to use the application. While working with the program, it displays usage hints, like "Hold CTRL to restrict movement to horizontal/vertical lines only". Very helpful. It would be great if KOffice implements something similar that works across all KOffice applications.
Are you referring to the status bar messages in Inkscape?
Showing statusbar messages is a great idea. I'd love to do that in 2.0 When we have time :)
For clarity: Yes, this is about statusbar messages. Which reminds me of adding a note: When I started using Inkscape, it took quite some time before I noticed the hints in the statusbar, as I rarely look at statusbars when I work on the image. For unexperienced users, it might be a good idea to make these hints draw a bit more attention somehow. Maybe the message could briefly show in a corner of the document area whenever the user switches tools (OSD-like). Just briefly, and fade away. Of course the OSD should have a 'Shut Up!' button for powerusers, which make the OSD messages retreat back into the statusbar.
Thank you for your bug report or feature suggestion. The "KOffice" application suite is no longer maintained, and all tickets are now closed. We recommend to switch to the "Calligra" application suite, which has replacements for all unmaintained KOffice applications: - KWord was replaced with Calligra Words - KPlato was replaced with Calligra Plan For more information, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calligra_Suite (This is an automatic message from the KDE bug triaging team)
