I would just like to make the following suggestion: It would be much easier to align the ruler with the object that you are measuring if kruler did not have any window decorations. (I used to have a ruler app on Windoze without decorations and it was easier to align the 0 point.) When you hover with the arrow over the, say, 100px mark it displays a distance of 105px, presumably taking the window border into consideration. When hovering over the 0px mark, it displays 5px. It's a bit annoying that you need to add x pixels to the markings on the ruler and that 0 isn't actually the 0 point.
OK, this is a bit weird, but... it doesn't have window decorations here. Are you running it under KDE or some other desktop? Could you perhaps attach a screenshot showing what happens for you?
