Version: 3.5.1 (using KDE 3.5.1 Level "a" , SUSE 10.1) Compiler: Target: x86_64-suse-linux OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.16.13-4-default LAN website https://local.site/ didn't have a favicon and is bookmarked in konqueror. Icons shown by konqueror and keditbookmarks for this URL are either none or the blue globe. When putting in a https://local.site/favicon.ico file (from http://pfsense.com/favicon.ico), both konqueror and keditbookmarks fail to ever notice that this site now has a favicon. (Firefox works just fine here and shows the new favicon without being asked.) In keditbookmarks, selecting the bookmark for https://local.site/ and running rightclick-Update Favicon never shows the new icon, although it keeps itself busy for some time and then shows "OK" in the time field. keditbooksmarks just never loads and saves the new favicon even when told. Running convert somefile.ico /var/tmp/kdecache-user/favicons/heron.site.png immediately has the desired effect of telling KDE that this site now has a favicon.
I have similar problems on Fedora Core 6 (KDE 3.5.6-4.fc6): It seems /favicon.ico-s are generally not supported on web sites anymore, only /favicon.png-s. I've lost all my bookmark icons after selecting "Update Favicon" for all bookmarks in the bookmark editor - except the ones where the icons were in PNG format.
Is still active for KDE 4.2 rc.

I have the same problem. On a new KDE 4.2, none of the favicons display in keditbookmarks. Update favicon and Update all favicons do nothing. Two icons out of dozens appear in the Konqueror menu. There are icons in /var/tmp/kdecache-david/favicons, and some menu icons will display the favicon on mouse rollover, but only on rollover and never in the URL bar. A few show in the tab, but most do not.
