Description Xuân Baldauf 2006-07-08 15:55:02 UTC
Version: 1.6.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.3)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

Try to select some Konsole text using a constantly moving mouse (i.e. move the mouse all the time, press the selection mouse button (the left mouse button) and release it.)

Expected results:
- Some text is selected after releasing the first mouse button.

Actual results:
- Some text gets selected shortly up to the time when the first mouse button is released. At mouse button release, the selection immediately gets deselected. Selecting or copying to clipboard is not possible.

This behaviour does not appear at other X applications (like mozilla seamonkey, jEdit, Kate).

Getting to select anything within a Konsole window currently requires that the mouse does not move by any pixel while releasing the first mouse button. This is virtually impossible if high resolution (1200dpi or more) mice are used.

Is there text being outputted to Konsole when you are trying to select text? If so, perhaps a duplicate of 50443?
Comment 2 Xuân Baldauf 2006-07-09 11:45:24 UTC
No, during the whole process, there is not output made by console applications (bash, etc.).

I cannot reproduce this here. Perhaps this is a mis-diagnosis of the problem? What happens if you use alternative mice (or use a mouse driven by the keyboard)?

I haven't received a response to my original reply. Please re-open if you have further comments.

Apparently, Konsole 1.6.6 (in KDE 3.5.7) does not have this problem, so closing this bug is fine (although I think it is FIXED, not INVALID).
