Description Jonathan Marten 2006-06-30 14:18:02 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.3)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
OS: Linux

The "Configure Kmail..." dialogue excessively complex, with 6 categories and 22 tabs in total. This could be simplified, and also logically split up between "settings for sending/receiving mail" and "settings for the user's preferences", by having the "Identities" and "Accounts" as separate dialogues.

These could then be grouped with the filters and Sieve menu options as "Configure Identities" and "Configure Email Accounts" respectively.

I agree that the configuration dialog is too complex. But how is splitting the dialog into 3 different dialogs going to improve usability? The user will have to look in three different dialogs to find a certain setting. In any case, if you can provide hard facts (i.e. a usability study) backing up your claims or if our usability team (usability.kde.org) supports your wish then we'll consider it. Until then we'll leave it as it is and thus I'll close you wish for now.
If you want to discuss this then please to so on the usability mailing-list.
