Description Torsten Eichstädt 2006-06-28 13:38:21 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.4.3, Kubuntu Package 4:3.4.3-0ubuntu2 )
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-10-pentium3

e.g.: I add a network PS printer and the test page prints out all right.
But printing a PDF from Konqueror with changed attributes (pages 1-4, preview, double sided, 2 pages per sheet, paper bin 2) fails (nothing is printed at all).
P.S. Bulk paper is in bin 1, white paper is in bin 2, no paper jam, toner/ink is full, printer is plugged in and on etc...
* The preview shows all pages although I selected only the first four.
* The preview does not show 2 pages on one sheet
* Preview does not show double sided printing
* clicking on the print button makes the printer roll the paper transport
mechanism but nothing happens
* There should be a message to the user that processing the pages takes time (konqueror does not respong in the meantime (bug))
Comment 1 Torsten Eichstädt 2006-06-28 14:29:57 UTC
Windos XP prints the same document all right with two exceptions: I have to select paper souce "bin 1" or "printer setting" (seems the printer itself is configured to use only bin 1) and the wizard for printing double sided does not work automagically (the printer can not print double sided, so I have to select "odd pages" first, feed the paper again and then print the even pages).
* Printing double sided and/or 2 pages per sheet should be guided and work automagically: No average user knows what filters she needs for all this. In fact, it is all selectable in the dialog boxes, this implies it works w/o adding additional filters.

Comment 2 Torsten Eichstädt 2006-06-28 14:37:19 UTC
* there should be a consistent distinction between a "sheet" and a "page" throughout KDE (w.r.t. printing 2/4/... pages per sheet and double sided printing)

Please only report one issue per report, test with a current KDE release before reporting and search for already reported bugs before filing a new report. Thanks! :-)
