Description Christian Weiske 2006-06-28 09:43:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

When creating a new album in digikam, the default name is "Create new album". I name my albums the way "YYYY-mm-dd event", e.g. "2006-09-21 some wedding" so that they still are in the correct order when viewing the photos folder in konqueror or any other program.
It would be nice if there was an option I could activate, so that the current date is used as prefix for the album's title.

As second wish I'm asking for an option to always create an album directly below the root photo folder, independent of which/if album is selected.

Andi,

Do you it still valid, especially with point #1 (When creating a new album in digikam...)

For me point #2 is invalid.

Point #1 could be an option, in Camera Import it works like that.
When you are asked for a new folder, it will have the current date as the new name.

Point #2 is invalid for me, too

About #1 and #2 - now it works like this: I put card into slot, dialog Download images using Digikam arrives, OK, download all, dialog with list of albums arrives, the album which I have last visited is active, but this is mostly not the album, where the photos should be placed, so I have to scroll to parent, select it, press button New Album, dialog with date arrives, but the date is 2008-12-31. Why this and not 2009-01-01 -- becouse the last modification date of parent directory is choosen, probably again not that, what I would expect.

Also #2 make sense, but I would suggest not to create it under root, but under parrent directory of current album. You will also very very ralely create album inside of album, which you are looking into.

I have multiple users on the computer and usually what happens is that the photos end up in sub folders where they don't belong, and the user won't find them any more. I have to manually sort the pictures under the root picture directory. This is a hassle so I now have a shell script downloading the images off the camera then start digikam. Maintaining the script is a pain tough. I also would like to name the albums automatically by date and time (YYYY-MM-DD--HH:mm) which is not possible in digikam 1.0.0. Basically like the parent I'd need gthumb like behaviour, unfortunately it lacks a lot of other necessary functionality.

Point #1 is solved in Camera GUI options to create new album.
Point #2 is duplicate entry of bug #149572
