Description Richard 2006-06-10 10:49:02 UTC
Version: 3.5.2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.4.6
OS: Linux

As soon as I launch KDE 3.5.2, it comes up with the KDE splash screen as usual, but then I get this dialog box:

KDE-panel: The process for the system protocol died ...

I can then just close this dialog box and continu working as if nothing happened. But as soon as I launch Konqueror to browse the internet it hangs for a few seconds as soon as I start typing a URL in the location bar. After that it continues working as expected. This behaviour returns as soon as I close Konqueror and launch it again.

No apparent error messages appear that clearly pertain to Konqueror 3.5.2 itself though.

The blue-ish intro screen also appears to be loading more slowly than with KDE 3.4.

The rest is working fine and super fast!! KDE 3.5.2 has been running for 8 days on end now without any other problem with it!

there's a problem with your installation, in particular with kio_system. you're getting the error in kicker due to having a menu, applet or button that uses it.
