Description Dik Takken 2006-05-29 19:19:12 UTC
Version: 1.5.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

When I try to open _any_ MS Word document in KWord, I get a dialog box telling me that it could not be opened, due to a "Creation Error".

Hi!

Such a message indicates that the filter could not be created for some reason. I have no idea about the Gentoo packages, but do they have a dependency to some "libwv" or "libwv2"? If not, you probably found a bug in the Gentoo packages.

Another possible source of problems are different compiler versions for libwv2 and KOffice or multiple versions of libwv2 installed in different paths.

Maybe the Gentoo packager can help you with that issue. I'll close this bug with "WORKSFORME" for now, okay?

Ciao,
Werner

It was a compiler issue indeed. I thought the C ABIs of GCC 3.3 and 3.4 were compatible, which is apparently not 100% true. Recompiling wv2 solved the issue.
