Description missive 2006-05-29 19:03:00 UTC
Version: 1.4.0 (using KDE 3.5.2, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.5 (Gentoo 3.4.5-r1, ssp-3.4.5-1.0, pie-8.7.9)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16-gentoo-r8

Sometimes, when changing to the next track in the playlist, then next song will start to play then it will skip again to the next song and continue on.

It is almost as if I pressed "Next track" as the score of the skipped song is knocked way down.

I was using 1.4 betas for a while and never experienced anything like this. Only now with the 1.4 release.

1.3.9 with xine engine does this too.
Usually it skips 5-th track it plays after start after several seconds of playing.

Having the same issue here (kubuntu.org packages on Ubuntu Dapper). Didn't have this when I was tracking SVN before 1.4 release.
It skips without fail on starting a dynamic playlist (it starts on the second song on the playlist).

I turned off "crossfading" and I no longer see this problem.

So, with the help of Ian Monroe and me, now there is a patch that should fix the issue.

 Here is the commit:

 SVN commit 560726 by ianmonroe:

Turn off gapless playback for xine with crossfade. I figure its redundant and probably
   confuses things.

This problem seems to have been reintroduced in recent SVN (in the past week? roughly?), with exactly the same symptoms as described in the original report. I am using 1.4-SVN with Xine engine.

For example: After opening Amarok, I loaded a dynamic playlist and started playing it, after which it appears to have skipped the second, fifth, seventh, ninth, and eleventh songs. In only twelve songs so far, it has already skipped three. It currently appears to be skipping every other track -- playing the first couple seconds and continuing to the next.

I am running the newest 1.4.5 and still have this or a very simular problem. listening to mp3 books and it keeps skipping chapters (IE songs) at random times. about 1 time per 6 chapters. I do not hear the missing chapter at all.

Hope this is not a repeat but this bug is NOT resolved on my computer!

Here, it happens when there is a high disk activity.
Perhaps a read timeout that make amarok think the file is not here anymore or finished ?
