Version: 0.1 (using KDE 3.5.2, Debian Package 4:3.5.2-2+b1 (testing/unstable)) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16.16-kanotix-1 I'am working with Kanotix life CD. I have used the kde wizard to configutare Lexmark Z43 printer. After installing the driver the printer takes the paper but does not print any letter.
Can you print something when using the command-line tool "lpr"?
How to start it?
1) produce a PS file: from a KDE app (like konqueror), print to a PS file 2) open a terminal 3) type: "lpr -P<printername> <file.ps>", be sure to replace <printername> with the actual printer name (without the < and > characters), and <file.ps> with the actual file to print.

If you open a web browser and go to http://localhost:631, you should be able to connect to the CUPS management system (CUPS is the print spooler). Using this system, you should be able to send a test page to your printer. Does it work?
I have tried it several times, it does not work. My Printer works with suse 8.2
Then I guess the problem lies in the driver itself. You might find some additional support at http://www.linuxprinting.org. Michael.
I thank you for your help, johannes
