Description Marius Falkevik 2006-05-26 13:06:59 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.3)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I wan't to que messages to my contacts when they are offline, so that they will be recived once they come online.

--Example--
If I open a chat window for an offline contact, kopete could notify me that the contact is offline, and the messages would be qued for later sending with an dialog. Then, if I choose to send some messages, they will end up in a que (with an optional dialog where you can edit the outgoing messages).

If I go offline before the messages has been sent, due to some network error, I should get a new dialog when comming online again. The dialog should tell me that I have outgoing messages that has not been sent, and opt me to look through them before they are beeing sent. If I press ok, they return to wait until the contact comes online.
--End--

Hope you can find the time to implement this, if it has not been implemented already. I haven't found any option for this, nor have I found a similar wish. Anyways, have a good weekend people, and keep up the good work! :)

Switch them to IM which supports offline messages (ICQ or Jabber) :-), then it will work automagically.

It's not easy to get somewhere around 140 contacts to change IM, and their friends will also have to change and so on. I don't think anyone want's to change IM for one contact only ;)

PINGing this old thing to see if I can spark some life into it.
The suggestion for making everyone change IM service is a non-starter, and this would be a really nice feature to have.
Maybe it is already solved, and this bug report is outdated ?

Kopete supports offline messages for Jabber, but not for MSN (while the original client does).

Hi,

after so many years, Windows Live Messenger protocol evolved and allows offline messages now.

Kopete still doesn't :( at least the version I use () while other clients (official WLM client, or aMSN or IM+ on android) do support offline messaging on WLM.

What's the key to get this implemented in Kopete (I love this client but this missing feature becomes a problem now because I loose some messages, that only popup on compatible client like aMSN or IM+ ... this is a pain).

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
