Description kdebugs 2006-05-23 09:06:54 UTC
Version: Unbekannt (using KDE 3.5.2 Level "a" , SUSE 10.0 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15.8-default

I have two kinds of printjobs: stuff I just have to print to work with (usually two pages on one sheet) and business letters.

Nowadays I have to go in the advanced options to set one of these needs - every time I print not in the standard mode. I'd like to define one setting for quick drfts and one for business letters. This would save time and toner.

Printer instances might help here. A printer instance is the combination of a physical printer and a set of pre-defined print options. They appear as regular printer in the print dialog. Go to the print manager and select the "Instances" tab.

Thanks - but this didn't the trick.

With instances I can set a different resolution and print quality, but for example I can not set to print two pages on one sheet.

AFAIK, you should be able to do it with instances. The instance properties dialog is the same as the printer properties dialog, which contains the number of page per sheet option. Doesn't it? (not using Linux, I can't check)

Yes, kdebugs@onlinehome.de, you *can* set what you need (2-up) for a printer instance.

In fact, you can set *every single* option you can specify on the command line or in the KDEPrint GUI also for an instance (and different for different instances).
