Version: 0.19 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2) Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: GCC 4.1.0 OS: Linux Konversation is a nice client, but X-Chat has an unbeatable feature where it right aligns nicks to an dynamically shifting margin that separates the flow of text on an IRC channel. In my opinion, such a margin improves readability of the channel text and I'd love it if Konversation could do this too; it's the last thing that's stopping me from switching.
I too agree this would be a nice feature

This is NOT a duplicate. The margin proposed aligns ALL text, regardless of nick. The other bug report marked as a duplicate may well align only text from any given nick, not relative to the alignments of text from other nicks. I propose only a full margin would be adequate.
a) As I noted in the first bug I closed as a dupe of #84391 (#93407, which concerned itself with XChat style column alignment as well), a well-designed fix for one of those gets us both capabilities. b) I have changed the title of #84391 to "Column alignment in the chat view" to cover both cases conceptually. I've also just added a new comment there to flesh out the issue a bit. c) Note that we're not oblivious to this request. As you can probably imagine, it's a pretty popular one. Improved layouting mechanics for column alignment is on our minds and agenda. No need to panic :-).
Thanks Eike, I look forward to seeing it.
No rushing you guys, but curious if there is any update on this?
Not before KDE 4, sorry. I.e. sometime next year, hopefully. Perhaps. No promises. ;)
