Description crozierm 2006-05-16 20:55:10 UTC
Version: 1.9.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

I recently upgraded to this version of kde/kmail/kontact and the behaviour of the search folders changed. I have a several saved search folders where the criteria includes an unread status. In previous versions of kmail, I could preview the messages from the search without having them marked as read. This allowed me to perform operations on the entire group (delete, forward, save, move, etc...).

As of this version, the messages are automatically marked as read and they disappear from the search folder. I can disable the preview pane (annoying) or I can set a "mark as read" timeout in seconds, which just makes me rush through reading them.

I've become very dependent on this feature of kmail. If there is an option to fix this hiding somewhere, please let me know. Otherwise, I think this change in behavior warrants some reconsideration.

Regards,

 Michael
