Installed from:    SuSE RPMs
Compiler:          gcc version 4.0.2 20050901 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux) x86_64 (relevant?)
OS:                Linux

After I saved a file with empty rows as .ods, rows after some empty rows disappeared.

Example: First row, enter 1, 2, 3 into first three cells. Second row, empty. Third row, 4, 5, 6. Save as .ods. The third row is gone after saving and reopening the file.
