Description Ferdinand Gassauer 2006-04-30 08:33:25 UTC
Version: 2.2 (using KDE 3.5.2, compiled sources)
Compiler: Target: x86_64-suse-linux
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.13-15.8-default

Hi!
20000 images, AMD 64 with 1 GB memory - no swap - no new images

starting kphotoalbum:
1:35 min : window "Laoding main window" is displayed
0:40 min : window "Laoding main window" is not displayed
1:20 min : window kphotoalbum main window is partly displayed

after 3:35 min and 100% CPU load the loading aof the database is complete:
if it is not possible to speed up the process better feedback should be provided.

searching for keywords:
first time search: after 40 seconds the search window opens
afterwards it opens immediately

Recent versions contain big speed inmprovements thanks to various people on the ML. Could you please try with a recent release?

C2D 2.4GHz & 43000 images, startup time 31s. Splash screen is shown all the time with changing messages (loading, scanning..) but I do remember that with old computer & older versions the splash was shown for a while but the the loading just happened somewhere in background with no feedback that something was going on. I'd think this could be now considered resolved but please still someone, confirm.
