Description Nicola Ruggero 2006-03-05 14:03:47 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
OS: Linux

In the configuration dialog the string "Use degrees Réamur" is not translate/translatable.

This is not an issue of Kalzium, but it's a specific issue in the kdelibs,
specifically in the way the i18n modules of kdelibs handle msgid's with non
latin1 characters.

Wouldn't the obviuos solution then be to stick to ASCII chars, untill this is fixed in kdelibs? "Reaumur" instead of "Réaumur", "beta[sup]-[/sup]" instead of "β[sup]-[/sup]" wouldn't hurt english users too much, but would improve experience for the whole rest of the world.

(Being a translator myself, i find it quite annoying to meet messages untranslatable "by design")

This bug has been fixed in kdelibs of KDE4. It cannot be fixed in KDE3...
