I think it would be very nice if kopete was able to show somewhere in the chat window how many chars you are typing when you are sending a sms with the sms plugin... With that feature it is possible to see in real time if the sms will be split, and to check if you're reaching the day limit etc.
don't you think??

I'm still thinking that this feature could be very useful, for me at least...
Would it be hard to implement?

I would also appreciate this feature. It is really annoying if you send an sms and then notice it contained more than 160 characters. It's not a huge problem for me, as smssend is capable of splitting this SMS into two, but sometimes, I would really like to know when I have reached the 160 character limit.

In one of my SMS accounts, instead, there is no possibility to split messages... so I often have to check with wc (wordcount) the lenght of a message...very annoying...

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
